Founded by a lifelong traveler, Adam Plescia, whose own 8th-grade trip to Washington, D.C. changed the trajectory of his life, Custom Tours of DC was created with one intention: to share the same sense of wonder, discovery, and connection that meaningful travel sparked in him as a young student. That early experience left a permanent imprint, inspiring a love of the nation’s capital and a conviction that experiences matter more than material things. Today, that philosophy shapes everything the company does.

Adam has been guiding tours in and around D.C. since 1999, and as a seasoned professional with an eclectic background, he brings in-depth knowledge and well-researched facts, coupled with humor and anecdotes, to every tour that brings the city to life for his tour guests. Adam earned a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and spent his years teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels shaped his ability to educate, inspire, and connect. He brings the same care to his private tours who visit the capital and want an experience that goes deeper than a standard sightseeing loop.
